PHENOMOLOGICAL TRANSPARENCY

“Matrix of Phenomological Transparency” is inspired by the mushrebias which are found across the region. They create a rather interesting and ambient play of light and shadow within the space which they shade as well as within themselves. This has been carried into the piece through the creation of a three dimensional matrix which attempts to achieve layers of complexity within the pattern. Furthermore, as the units are aggregated, they transform by changing the level of transparency in order to transform across as the units are aggregated, the level of transparency alters, thus transforming across the matrix. The result is a matrix which has phenomolgical transparency within each unit, as well as within the secondary pattern which arises. Phenomolgical transparency is where the viewer of an object perceives different spaces within the same object, such as within the layers within each unit. This leads to the appearance of an optical illusion and leads one’s eyes to wander across the object.
